Just orded 2001 1900 pro v with 135 opti. How fast should go? I am not a speed freek but, I don't want to slow either.

If you get it set up to as close to perfection as possible-motor height, correct propeller and such, I would expect somewhere in the mid 40's. Don't be disappointed when you can't hit 50. That's a lot of boat. I have a Crestliner 1750 Sportfish with an Opti 150. Mine is as close to perfect as I'm ever going to get it-jackplate to get the prop into clean water and at the right height on the transom, turning a Trophy 21 pitch. 5500 revs and 55 MPH on a Garmin GPS12XL. You'll love the ride, and 44-47 MPH ain't exactly chopped liver.

The 1900 is a big, wide and heavy rig. I would say that you would get in the very low 40's. I base this on my experience with my Pro V 1800 with a Vmax 150 efi, and the performance my fishing buddy got from his 1900 with a Yam 200. I can run 46 to 52 depending on the fuel and passenger load. My buddy ran just a little over this speed. This is just a suggestion, but you may want to think over your choice of HP and up it to a 175 if feasible. I know you didn't ask how big a motor you should buy, but to me a 135 seems real light for this rig. TGG

I have to agree with The Guide. My 1900 has a 175EFI Merc and just barely may touch 50 in the right conditions. The dual console creates some extra drag. There are other recent postings on this same discussion. With respect to re-sale should you trade-up some day...you'll do much better with a bigger motor. Personally I'd go with the Optimax 200 for the 1900 if I was ordering one. You would never regret it.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-20-01 AT 11:31PM (CST)[p] I have played around with my 1900 and here is what I came up with. I have a 150 Yamaha saltwater motor because it the only one that has a 25inch shaft. With one person and almost no fuel or batteries or gear in the boat and a 21p prop, it did 52mph @5200 rpm. Yamaha 150hp should run about 5500 rpm and it has a rev limiter at about 6250 rpm according to Yamaha. When I put one more person in the boat with full tank of gas and batteries live wells filled and gear my rpm went down to 4200 rpm at 43 mph and I was using alot of gas. I then went to a 19p prop and now I was at 4800 to 4900 rpm at 46 mph and fuel economy was better. I then went to 17p prop and my motor ran at 5300 to 5400 at about the same speed and the fuel economy was even better because the motor was running near it's peek rpm which is better on the motor. Your boat should run in the low 40mph range with gear and fuel in my opinion, but again you need to have the right prop for the conditions. I also moved the motor up on the transom and to me it seemed like the nose of the boat would not come up. I know you have a Merc, but our horsepower is close.

I am running a 1900 PRO-V LE with a 150 Optimax Offshore on the back. With two people, half load of fuel, and fairly smooth conditions, I top off around 44-46 MPH. The only reason we bought the boat this way was that it was already rigged. Next one will have the max horsepower, and hopefully it will be a 2025 PRO-V LE Limited with a 225 Opti. Digital!

I have a 1900 v dual console with a Ram Ficht 150. Depending on fuel load and water conditions I usually run 42 to 46 wot; which does the job for me. If I had to do it over again I'd get the 200 hp; assuming I could afford it. I guess I could have waited to get the pinpoint trolling motor and depth finders, but those sure have proven to be a real help. I guess it all boils down to the $$$$'s. Get the biggest motor you can afford, you won't regret having the extra hp's available. Good luck and enjoy the new rig whatever you get. johnb
