I have a lund 1650 grebel. I would like to mount a couple of rod holders for troling. I'd like to mount them on the gunnel as i do not want to drill holes.. I also like having the flat spaces open for steppingetc. The only gunnel mount I've found for an alluminum boat requires an oarlock. She doesn't have rails either. Theres gotta be a good piece of gear for this. Any advice available is appreciated.
Thanks.

I have a Rebel 1650ss, the downeast double clamp holder is the best for you. If you cannot find them locally, go to down-east.com make sure you have the dash between down and east
I mounted Tempress holders on a 2x4 then used 3" C clamps to fasten boards to gunnel. They are installed and removed easily. Three seasons and no complaints.

Look at Cabela's. They have a mount on the same page as their rod holders.

thanks fellas. I'll look at all you suggestions. jack .. how do you clamp the 2x4 to the gunnel w/ a c clamp?
I place the 2+4 on the inside of the gunnel even with the top. Clamp the board to the gunnel with a 3" C clamp on each end. My holders are toward the stern because the gunnels are straight back there and I sit facing the stern in the tiller seat and all 6 rod holders are within easy reach reach while watching the boards. If you sit facing forward you'll get a stiff neck from looking over your shoulders constantly. Install the clamps with the handles inboard so they don't catch on anything when you're tied up to the dock.

Thanks a lott. I have spent much time staring trying to figure out how to attach the c clamps. I have a 3" clamp. I just can't figure how to clamp the board to the gunnel. I'll keep thinkin and hopefully the lightbulb will click on soon. Thanks a lott for you advice.
My gunnels are about 2" square. Put the clamp on the outside of the gunnel and on the inside of the board and tighten it down. If your gunnels are round then use a block of wood under the gunnel to tighten the clamp down on. I hope this will help.
