Looking at the Skeeter line of walleye boats, probally the 1775 side console. Does anyone know anything about this boat? I haven't been on this board very long but, haven't seen anything on these boats. Great board, by the way. I've picked up a lot of info. Thanks in advance.

Great hull, handles very well in big water! Dry and very well built,I believe that the 1775 is the best of the 17' boats!
Skeeter is making very good boats at reasonable prices!
Good luck---

I purchased a 1775 Tiller last Spring. The boat has exceeded my expectations! I previously owned a 1775 Lund Pro-v and find the Skeeter to have a much better ride and also be much drier. The boat is deep and very stable. I have had no problems and put in alot of time on the water with the boat last summer. I saw the boat as a great value and have not been sorry that I choose it. I run a F80 Yamaha and have been equally pleased with it. Skeeter does not get discussed much on this site but last summer on Milacs Lake there were plenty to be seen on any given weekend. I really don't think you can go wrong.
Is Skeeter still in business?

Just wondering what hull you run?
Yes Skeeter is still in business they have been doing very well in MN. where guy's need a "REAL" walleye boat! they have (2) new models of big water console boats out now to!
Look at the boats out there for us walleye guy's,The 1775 is one of the best tillers you will find! The NEW 2050 & 1950 are real nice,roomy,set-up right ie. you can back troll out of it! Yamaha owns them, they are here to stay!

I have a 98 1775 with a 150 v max, I use it 2-3 times a week and fish mainly Sakakawea "big waves". I love my Skeeter! Well built, very dry and darn quick.

I also have a 1775 SC, A 98 model with a 115 Yamaha 2 stroke. The power is marginal (upper 30's with three people and gear, 40 with just me )but the boat is a very good boat, it handles waves well and makes a great fishing platform. A 135-150 on the boat would make it even better. Have had no problems with the surface cracking and trailer the rig quite a bit also with no signs of problems. As stated early they seem to be a good value...Good luck...SkeeterBoy

I bought my first skeeter last year. a 1775sc with a 150yamaha v-max. I had a 1775pro v se with a 150 johnson fast strike before. my pro v got me wet alot and rode ruff. I fish a few tourn's and the pro v was not that great of boat. the skeeter is wonderful. rides great, handles great, does not get me wet, and will go about 54mph. the trailer is sweet, i'll never go back to a roller trailer once i've had a bunk from skeeter. there is a few things that skeeter needs to improve on the boat and i took it back this winter to perce marine in brainard and they are takeing care of all that i ask.

I'm still running a Skeeter 135 that I bought new over 10 years ago. FYI, the 135 was the precursor to the 1775.
Aside from some very slight owner/operator inflicted docking dings, the boat still looks like it just came off the dealers lot. Never had any problems with the gelcoat, in fact I never have had a problem with the boat.

In your opinion what things need to be improved upon in this boat? I don't own one but am considering it.
and for those of you that own this boat in the tiller model with the 80 yammy, what do you think of it's performance. top speed, hole shot, etc? thanks for all your help

This is a super rig, the 80hp is a great fit! All 4 strokes are a little doggie out of the hole, but high end is good. Totally loaded I'm running 36mph- thats over 2000lbs of total weight! I can back troll at .8mph in dead calm & have to give it throtle with some chop. If your still not sure give me a call, when the weather breaks we'll go down to the river an I'll let you run mine around!(763-535-6969)I'm sure after you drive one you'll own one, then when you get a chance to run it in some bigger water you'll see why the guy's that own these boats love them!
Good Luck&e-mail or call me if I can help in any way!

Eye crosser,
1) Confused about jj, and JJ handles. Thats ok, I just figured out the lower case, and caps myself.
2) Backs fine, thanks for the concern.
3) Raingear's OK, but I'm sure the other couple Lund owners will help me out with a recommendation of scuba gear, or a diving bell.
4) Since your eye opening post I've had a chance to correct my errant ways. Ran to the nearest Skeeter dealer, traded in my Lund with appologies to him for having to unload it this spring. Picked up a Skeeter 1775, 1950, and 2050. Someone told me to buy a 1775, and I bought a Lund by mistake.

The covers on the livewells and baitwells splash water out. I had to put some rubber like material around them. look at a ranger and you will see what i mean. Also the windsheild has screws holding it, they fall out need to put bolts through it. Had problems with hoses leaking water and had to reseal all of them. If you are planing to put a troller on the back the transom is real thick and your motor may not fit. or i had to mount a board on the back so my motor did'nt slide off. when you put thust to the motor it would pop off.

Since it's back to the top and I have a 1775 WT DC I thought I would comment on my first impressions because Iv'e only had it 1/2 summer.
The smoked windshields are big and keep the rain and the wind off of you under power. But they have come loose so I got some lock nuts and replaced most of them. It is also hard to see at night so if they offer clear go with that or get the full walkthrough. There are no stress cracks anywhere to be found on this 1998 hull and interior. I loads like a dream with the Skeeter bunk trailer I back in until the tips of the bunk are just under and it slides to within 2' of the winch and just a little power and you are on.
I have been in 3'to 4' waves on MilleLacs 4 times once at night and I never got wet ever. In daylight in those waves we could average between 14 and 20 mph GPS. In 2' you can run WOT any direction and never get wet.
Iv'e never fished a boat with the center rod holders but the side ones work great as long as you wind your line around the pole before you put it away. I have usually 12 rods with, at least.
With all 4 seats in place it is a bit crowded but it is managable with 4 people. And the livewells do splash a little water on the deck if they are full so I probably will look into new rubber around them this spring.
All in all I am impressed with the boat and how easy it is to use.
I get about 55 GPS with 150 V max and with the 9.9 I never troll with the 150 yammy. It does pull hard to the right at 1/2 throttle so I will be adding hydraulic steering soon or making some changes to the trim tab on the motor.
Hope this helps in your decision on a new boat. I would like to think I got a comparable boat to a Ranger for a lot less $$.
God I can't wait for the snow to start melting and it's -2 right now please warm it up. Amen
Just a prayer for us northerners.
