There was an article in the February 16, 2001 issue of the Wisconsin Outdoor News re: Patriot Boats. It states that you can contact Mr. Marine in Fond du Lac at 920-921-7070 for more information. Hope this helps.

That's all the Walleye fishing world needs is another Walleye boat. A Candadian start-up company "Patriot" advertises they have never had a hull failure in 27 years. Keep in mind, the "Patriot Company" is just starting up.

MR. Marine, at Fondulac, their first dealer, has the first proto boats of this new "Patriot Boat". Patriot claims to not have any hull failures in 27 years. This is being faulsy advertised - taking the advertising from a company in Florida, where they have popped a hull. Again, keep in mind, this is a new start up company and has no boat building experience or history of product built. Don't be fooled.

I know you are right about PATRIOTS false ads. Does this mean that since they are built in a foreign country they are exempt from U.S.laws on false advertising? Is the dealer responsible?

i saw 2 of these boats at the milw. walleye expo and they are nice looking boats but and its a big but there is little to no storage there basically a raceing hull turned fishing and the livewell well lets just say small, battery storage was under passenger and stearing councel ,i think that in the next couple of years they will be one ##### of a boat if they can do the things they claim and if they fix the interior layout.

The web site for Patriot www.jrfishingsource.com. Compared to some of the $35000 junk out there this boat is going to hold up.
The livewell has also been made larger. There are 2 boats at Mr. Marine now if you want to see them and they will be on the water just as soon as the lake opens up. There seems to be a lot of bashing going on before the boat has a chance to prove itself. The only hull failures with this boat were when it was run into a bridge abutment and when one was dropped off of a trailer I have cheecked with their the manufacturers insurance carrier.

It seems that there are a lot of things that need to be cleared up about Patriot Boats -- I hope this helps . . .

Patriot Boats International located in Canda, (a.k.a. MPL Power Boats on the East Coast in the U.S.) has built and sold near 2,000 boats in the past 27 years for commercial and sport fishing uses. With that in mind, Patriot Boats is not considered a start-up company, they've only expanded their product-line to include the walleye fishing boat market.

Throughout the 27 years of Patriot Boats boat building experience, they have had builders and liability insurance with the same insurance company. As reported by their insurance company, no claims have ever been made. The two boats that were returned for warranty work (as posted by eyebass on 7-Mar-01) was a result of operator negligence, not hull failure. This should clear up any concerns about false advertising.

In regards to the rod storage facilities, isn't TWELVE 8 foot rod tubes adequate?

In regards to the livewell, Patriot Boats is sure that FIVE 30"+ Walleyes will ride very comfortably in the stern 40+ gallon livewell. Especially since it's on the centerline. (Isn't the most stable position of a boat in the stern and on the centerline?).

The dry storage areas up front are equal to or greater than any others on the market at 21" deep and 60" long. Patriot Boats admits that the cooler is too small in the 2001 models, however, the 2002 models will have much larger coolers.

What other boat has storage for SEVEN marine batteries? Not to mention the dual 6-foot storage compartments in each gunnel.

We're glad to see all of your interest in the Patriot Boats, and would greatly appreciate "constructive" critism so that we can continue to improve our product. Our protorype design was developed by the comments of avid fishermen, as yourselves. Please visit the following website for additional information and to make comments: www.jrfishingsource.com

Hay Mr. Wonderfull, you must own a boat company? Does the world nee another walleye boat? I think that it does. Why? It's about time someone feels that people should get their money's worth. What about all that glitter that they put on the boats today, is that to hide problems? I've been around the fishing industry for a lot of years, and I have seen and been in most of the boats out there, glass, and tin. I've seen ALOT of broken boats out there, from transoms, hulls, to consoles. I will be nice and not name these boat. You that own them, you know what I am talking about. I am a disabled vet,and had to give up fishing from the boat, because my back could no longer handle the beating that the boats out there gave me. I was givin the privilege to ride in one of these new boats. This was the best, smoothest ride that I have ever been in. It gives me great pride in saying that I will own a Patriot boat. Remember that this is a true fishing boat, and will be able to handle just about any sea out there. I will use this boat for all my fishing, Walleyes, salmon, Trout, ect. This boat does'nt have all the glitter, but it was made to be fished' and cleen up is very easy, this is the way all boats should be. Thats if you use them. May God bless, and good fishing.

These boats were on display at the Mpls Walleye Expo gathering. It was a very nicely laid out boat altho storage was
not all it could be. The big pluses were the hull design looked like it could take heavy water and as far as maintenance, the all plastic hull allowed for easy maintenance, just hose it down (assuming the sand can get filtered) Assume it is no slip finish on floors & gunnals.

The downside is the reps mainly just sat there and talked amongst themselves and periodically smiled at the crowd gathered around the boats. Maybe they could read us better

Price tag is scary in view of competing with known name boats and similar features.

All told tho, it held our interest. Soon as we figure out if we want to be a Boston Whaler or a Ranger there may be a place.

Does anyone have a price for this boat and motor set up? I checked out the boat at their website. It looks very interesting. The website does not offer a very detailed photo of the boat, I would like to get a better look at this rig. Does anyone know if this boat will be coming to the Mpls/St.Paul area anytime soon? Thank's

LAST EDITED ON Mar-08-01 AT 01:59PM (CST)[p]The suggested retail price for the Patriot Series 2050DC, rigged with the following: 225 Digital OptiMax, Stainless Prop, Hydraulic Steering, Jensen AM/FM Cassette Stereo, Vanguard Dual-Axle Disc Brake Trailer is $32,995 (plus freight and tax).

The suggested retail price, rigged with a 225EFI is $31,150 (plus freight and tax).

We will not be attending the upcoming boat show in Minneapolis, as we showed the boat at the Walleye Expo in Shakopee, MN. There will be an in-water boat show at Mr. Marine in Fond du Lac, WI in the beginning of April. You can call them for more information at 920-921-7070.

We apologize for the limited photos posted on our website. Due to the season and the limited open water availability in our area, are hands have been tied. Within the next month or so, we will be able to update those photos and add more to our website. Please keep checking out our website for updates.

Jdavenport I would have thought that this walleye boat might have been tested in the florida water before bringing it to any boat show. In 27 years the co. built an avarage of 79 boats per year seems nonesentual. the boats at MR Marine are in fact proto types arent they? when will the 2002 be avaible.

Strike -- Yes, the 2050 hull had been tested before the boat shows in September, 2000 on the St. Lawrence Seaway, approx. 100 miles east of Lake Ontario. We tested the center console model in 24 - 30" waves. It ran over 70 mph with a 225 EFI. The hull design is not a prototype -- only the interior design/layout. We have already modified the interior design/layout by enlarging the livewell and installing a waterproof hatch to the rear of each console for more dry storage.

I realize that when calculating the total boat production on a yearly basis, the numbers do not seem very high, but the important factor is that 15, 20 and 25 year old boats are still in service.

JD, your fighting a loosing battle.... I'm sure your product is excellent, and your representation seems fair. But it is "High Time" for cabin fever. Everyone here wants to go outside and play but cant. Unfortunately that makes a few people a little edgy. Heck, you could say the boat was free, used 1 gallon of gas per year, and after 10 years of use you would buy it back for $10,000. Someone would STILL have something to complain about. Keep trying, and try to take the criticisim with a grain of salt.

Thanks,

John
