Its been a year has the XL issue been dealt with, switched to Cabelas mono last year for my 8lb, but now in the market for some 6lb green, as line diameter goes down I am less likely to compromise on quality, sure do not want dry line. Has anything like a born on date occured with Berkley,as good beer would. Individual retailers may be at fault alsoi but It does not look that way. Love quality 6lb & 8lb Trilene is there any left? Currently use flourescent blue in Stren in 6lb. Hows their green in 6lb? Cabelas 8lb mono green I expect to stay with.

Try the Berkley 6 or 8 pound Sensi-Thin,I switched from XL and love it.It is availible in the low-vis green, try it.I agree with the born on dating. It seems like every year I'm sorting out line trying to figure out how old it is.I've been trying to get in the habit of writing the purchase date on the spool. The other problem is in the store, you see the same line in three different packages and you try and guess which one is the freshest.
it's simple, the freshest line is either the most expensive or the one they don't have in stock!! :-)

Great Idea! Give me two spools of what you are sold out of. LOL.

Try RAPALA Finesse in 6 lb or 8 lb You won't go back to berkley or stren. I made the switch and am very impressed with this line
I always used xl until they change the formula, now it breaks to easy I admit they did improve castability, but what good is a nice cast if it breaks when your reeling in a 9 pounder.
I have to admit Stren is good line and fluoresent clear blue is excellant that's what I switched to after losing several fish on the xl. the only thing I miss is the fluoresent line. I like line visibility and RAPALA only makes clear as far as I know.At least I know it's not going to break.
