Flurocarbon leaders for PowerPro?

Hello all, I use 10lb powerpro on My Fenwick, EagleGT. What Brandname Flurocarbon leader material do you suggest i use when wanting to jig for walleye? Also what pound line? I was thinkin 8lb Seagar Fluro Leader material but what kind of nots should i use? and should i tied on a snap swivel abover the leader?

I hadn't thought about a flurocarbon leader but, now that you mention it, it is a good idea.

I'd use the 8lb. test and a uni-knot to join the lines. I would not use a swivel. The less terminal tackle the better.

Thanks for the idea. I'm going to Canada the first week of June and I am using the exact lines your mention. I'll try the leader.

i personally think the new flouorocarbons are great, but io think they leave a lot to be desired as far as strength. I used 8# vanish on some home made spinner rigs last year and i found them very easy to snap off. i've heard seguar flouocarbons are much better for this so i will be trying them out as well, or perhaps i need to use a heavier line for my leaders.

The Seaguar holds up better for me trolling, the vanish seems ok for leader when jigging but didnt hold up trolling at all. I use a barrel swivel to hook together then just a clip on the end..good luck...Bob

I use Scientific Anglers fly fishing floro tippet material. It is a little more expensive but is very strong. I landed a 8 lb rainbow on 3lb test floro last spring. Most of the summer last year I just tied my Power Pro directly to my jigs and the walleye and crappie didn't seem to care at all?

On my 10lb powerpro, i am trying seaguar grand max leader in the 14.5lb strength. Its .010 diameter and it holds knots great. I haven't really tested it out so i don't know how well it works for catching fish. If this stuff doesn't work, i might go to either 8 or 10lb seaguar leader. I tried 10lb vanish and hated it: knots always broke and frayed terrible.
Use a uni to uni knot for connection and use a snap.
