Hi all,
I am in desperate need of a part from OMC. I am having a 6HP Evinrude 4 stroke kicker put on my boat complete with remote steering, shift and throttle. The dealer where I am having this done notified me that they have everything except 1 part. The part is a remote control kit assembly adaptor OMC p/n-444517. He tells me that he can't locate one and the season here in NYS starts on Saturday. My favor to all of you is this: does anyone have a local OMC dealer that I may be able to call or email about the availability of this part? I am including my email address if you wish to contact me directly off the board. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

I cant believe it! Received a call from the dealer installing my kicker today and he told me omc wont have this part available until June. They also told me they have checked with several instate & out of state omc dealers to no evail(sp?) I find it hard to beleive that with all the boats that have kickers put on them there are not enuff people putting remote controls on them to justify having a factory stock on this simple item!! Am I the only person in the USA that is putting a 6HP kicker on that wants remote controlls? Sorry to whine & cry but walleye season opens Saturday and I would like to have my rig all set up. Does anyone have any suggestions......be nice now..LOL

The 6hp 4-stroke only has 1 cylinder where the 8hp 4-stroke is a must better motor and a 2 cylinder. The difference between the 2 motors is like night and day I'm told. The 8hp has alot more power. Maybe someone is trying to tell you the 6hp 4-stroke is not the right one? Bill

Bill,
I went with that motor based on several posts on this board. I asked if a 6HP was sufficient or would I be better off going with a 9.9. Overwhelmingly the 6 was reccomended by some pretty respectable people on this board. Mostly the ability to go slower rather than faster. I have a 17'Lund and pretty much everyone said go 6. The motor is not the issue at hand though I'm not sure if the size of the motor is the reason for the hang up from OMC. Thanks for responding though I do appreciate it. Good luck this season.
