View Full Version : X-75 question
I have a X-75 I put on the boat last fall. This spring it frequently will stop reading the bottom while trolling. The depth display will flash at whatever depth it quit reading at. I usually have to turn it off and back on to get it back. Sometimes then it still won't come back and will flash 0.0. I did see it come back without shutting it down once or twice after trolling several miles. Also in about 6 times out I have never marked a fish. This spring I wouldn't expect to seeing I'm trolling shalow for browns etc. 15' to 5' but last year I fished deep water and never marked a thing. Maybe there was nothing to mark!! I am going to run a dedicated power line to the battery this week and see if that is it. Any other suggestions?
Thanks, Rob

Sure sound like your puck is running in dirty water, like to close to the prop or in white water from your hull. That would be my opinion.
I don't think that is it. I hung off the back of the boat to look at the water and it seems "clean". Also it will do it when drifting sideways. It does work very well at high speeds. I can only remember it loosing bottom a few times in rough water and then it came back after slowing or when the boat settled down a bit. Do you leave the asp on automatic or do you set your sensitivity to what you want?
Thank you for the responce, Rob

Rob, I had the exact same thing happen with my X-75. So I just lowered the transducer about an 1/8" and although I have only used it once since, it seemed to correct the problem. You might also want to consult the factory or reset the unit, read your manual for this but if I remember correctly you need to depress and hold the MENU button while powering down the unit.
Good luck

I'd check the transducer cable. If all else seems right, it's possible that the cable is pinched somewhere, or is possibly weak or broken where it meets the transducer. Also could be a loose cable on the back of the unit.

I had the same problem with my Eagle Optima which should be almost identicle units. I posted here and was told it may be a bad transducer. They tend to go bad after a while. My unit was just over 1 year old. Luckily, the store I bought it from had an extra transducer from a display, which I got for free. This cured the problem.
