Placing transducer on vantage

I'm mounting a transducer on my new vantage and am wondering how you would work the cord? As the shaft length changes you will end up with alot of slack. There must be a better way.(?)

Curious why you would want to put a transducer on a transom TM rather than on the transom itself....
