View Full Version : x48 locator problems
Just bought a used boat but it is only 9 months old. It has a x48 in the front with the tranducer mounted to the trolling motor, wich is a 65# minkota autopilot. when I acellerate the trolling motor the screen goes wacko and picks up alot of garbage. What should I look at to fix this.

Get some distance between the transducer and the motor.
If using a puck, switch to skimmer and use a Lowrance TMB bracket.
Put a strip of rubber between the big hose clamp that holds transducer on the MinnKota, and the transducer,..for insulation.
Turn x-48 off of the "fish I.D." mode. Never turn "fish I.D. on again !! (lol)
Make sure your power source is not coming from troll battery, it should be coming from fuse panel or start battery.
Hope that helps.
Try simplest change first! (Turn off "Fish I.D." !!)
Then the power source.
Then the rubber.
Then go to different transducer...if problem is still present.

Check to see how the X48 is wired. I was told by Lowrance that sometimes if it wired to trolling motor batteries it could cause interference. and also Rig-Rite sells a rubber mounting pad for the transducer that is suppose to sheild the transducer from interference.
