Was looking through a marine catalog and one of there items listed is these forward looking sonars. The transducer beam reachs out in front of the boat 600ft to 1200ft in a 180 degree arc showing structure and fish location and also act as a conventional down looking unit with split screen capibilties. Does anyone have any fishing exoeriences with these units? Thanks.

You are referring to the "Twin Scope" I believe. We will soon have one of these units given to us by our sponsor so we can try it out. If it does half of what it claims to, could be fantastic and save some lower unit damage as well. I thought it would be great to mount backwards to tell exactly where lures are running, eliminate the guess work. You can check nback with me later to see if we used it yet, I'm at BAKndaPAK@aol.com hope to have it before May 12-13 Petenwell Tourney.(lots of submerged timber and stuff) I will post my findings.

W'eyes Guy,
Thanks. I was looking at the Twin Scope or Probe unit. Heck of a system. Appreciate any feed back. Good luck at Petenwell.

I don't have a Twin Scope or Probe but I do have an Advantage which is their dual frequency depth/fish finder. It works fantastic for me. This is my second Interphase product. The first one I bought in 1987 is a 20/20 and has a CRT (picture tube) screen. It still works perfect and the detail is incredible. I still use it as my front sonar and the Advantage as my rear, data, and plotter. The current models with LCD screens do not have the detail (pixels) of comparably priced units yet they are able to separate targets much better than the Bottomline and Garmine I've tried. Interphase customer service is very good too. I've never needed service but have asked about a hundred questions. I'd be interested in how well the forward scan works too.
