View Full Version : Speedo & H2O tube connection to gauges

Is it Friday yet?!?

I'm installing a new H2O pressure gauge on the rig this evening and am curious about the connection of the tube to the gauge and engine. Should the tube be fastened to the nipple on the gauge and engine(i.e. with a small tie strap) or is the tube mearly held in place with friction at these locations. I noticed there was no fastener on the speedo tube, and all I could think of was the tube coming loose and spraying water onto the fuse block and switches!

Dave, Mine used to be held on with friction. It is a very VERY tight fit. In fact, I snapped the first one while trying to slide the hose over the nipple. I have since abandoned these for the Speed/Temp on the LMS 350A and my GPS. Much more accurate.

Hows the shed lookin'? Need to clean out some rims? :-)

Howdy, Eric

I'm not too concerned about the speedo, other than the tube coming off. Hard to tell water pressure from my X-85, though!

If ya want those rims and tires, give me a shout. I was just in the shed this past weekend, so we can get to 'em!

Dave, they do fit on really tight. However, I did put a small zip tie around each fitting just for good measure.

Best Regards,

Thanks, FJH

Me thinks that is the route I shall go.

Take Jamies advice,,,, Mine blew off once last year. I couldn't figure out why water was running out of the console all over my legs when I'd open it up..Finally saw the speedo wasn't working, dipsh#t!!! You can bet mine has a tie on it now!!! Good thinking(ahead of time)!

Its happened to me twice in two different boats during long tournament runs. Standard operating procedure now is to put a clip on on the hose to prevent the "I wet my pants look". ;-) JC

Ahh,<blush> I did not fully comprehend your request. Sorry dude! The friction fitting it the same, however, on the water pressure line. I know that you can get small hose clamps that could provide you with some peace of mind.

Rather then being screwed on these are clamped on.
