Anybody out there had a chance to try out the new 7420 from Pinpoint yet? Thinking about getting one,was going to get a 7520 but had a financial setback so now I am looking at the 7420. How does the screen look on the water, I know that it is a little different than the 7520.
Thank and "GOOD LUCK" moreyes

Put a 7420 in the boat a month ago. The graph is great and it's really easy to navigate the different options and menus. The high speed operation is fantastic. It has a lot of useful features as well. The backlight, however, is awful and it can be hard to see the screen in the daylight unless you're very close and looking directly at it. I would like to see Pinpoint improve their screen "contrast" to come up to par with Eagle or Lowrance. We have had some trouble "losing" the bottom in very deep or very shallow water, but I believe that the transducer needs some angle adjustment. Good luck, I would recommend this unit based upon what I've seen and Pinpoint's solid reputation and constant improvement to their product line.

The unit does a nice job of and has a lot of great features. I too would like to see the backlighting come up to the level of the 7520 and a little screen improvement. But once I got used to the night view feature, I find the backlighting much less critical. Nightview turns the "picture" into a negative, making the bottom a white line, fish as white arches etc. It's so easy to see at night and keeps the glare out of your eyes. It's amazing how much easier it is to see when driving at night with the nightview enabled. From what I've seen in that pricepoint the 7420 is worth considering, that's why I bought one.

moreyes, Put 2 7420's on my new rig and I like them a lot. I feel the same as others that the screen is a little dark.I still need to tweak the transom transducer a little but I think you would be happy with them.My opinion of course. The warranty and upgadability is a plus too. good luck goose925
