Just saying that because I bought a boat with rivots!

Searching is done! I bought a great boat for a fair price (12K). I got a 1998 Starcraft 170 Superfish with a 115 Merc 2+2. Full windshield, two livewells, and two rod lockers. The boat is Green and white and in great condition. It also is fairly easy to pull with my v-6 Explorer.

Waiting on the bow mount I ordered from Reed's. I ordered a 24volt 82 pound thrust Motorguide Excel with a Pinpoint 7420. I also got a 60" shaft which may look funny it's so big, but it will never come out of the water on windy days!

Just wanted to share the news with you all. A lot of you helped me find the right boat, gave me advice on brands, and I especially want to thank DaveinMpls who was sending me want ads from the Startribune!

Thanks all and see you on the water!

Good luck with the new boat. The Eyes won't have a chance anymore !!

If you ever run into problems with those RIVETS, call for Bob Ritt right here on the board. The guy knows (from experience) more about fixing them than anybody. LOL

Eric,
I had a 190 Starcraft, rivets and all. It was a great boat. In fact my brother has it now. I like my Crestiner more now but the Starcraft was a winner while I had it. I think you got a great boat. By the way, the 115 Merc is an exellent motor, proven technology. And at trolling speed the 2+2 really goes forever on a gallon of fuel. Way to go!

Eric; Glad to hear you found a nice rig!! Unfortunately I will still have to continue my search for that "perfect" rig. It's always fun to get that new boat out and start getting aquainted with the unique characteristics they have. Good luck...SkeeterBoy

Your welcome! I'm just glad you weren't in the market for some used patio furniture, as it's not nearly as fun perusing that section of the classifieds!

Sounds like that should be a fine boat for ya. Also, don't loose any sleep on the rivit deal....my boat has rivits, and I sleep great :) I'm pretty sure Bob Ritt did, too (regardless of what Larry may say)!!

We've gotten some pretty good rain here today, which means the 'Ol Miss is gonna be rageing at Red Wing by the weekend. Looks like I'll just have to be content sitting in the boat in the driveway Saturday!! I'm afraid I might just wax the paint right off that baby!

Lookout, you Colorado Eyes....Mr Ewing is on the hunt!!!
