I just moved to Colorado and need some or any info on how to catch walleye. I need to know what bait or set ups to use for trying to catch them from the bank. I will be fishing in wyoming around what is known as the mircle mile. Any and all info would be appreciated. Thanks Doodle
Doodle,
I don't think a lot of guy go the the "mile" to catch Walleyes. Trout is usually the fare and yes the fishing is very, very good. As for Walleyes in Wyoming, I'd suggest, if you fish from shore, that you try Seminoe just to the south of the Miracle Mile. It's the only place in that area I've done well from shore. Not much pressure and lots of fish. And believe it or not, it has a 20 Walleye limit. Part of Wyoming Game and Fish Department's anti Walleye policy. I'd rather you just keep a few for dinner and turn the rest back. Throw a Crank bait or try a jig and twister tail. Night time is not a bad time to fish from shore either. Been there done that. Have fun.

The mile is a great place to catch walleye. This is where they spawn from pathfinder. Try from shore at the mile where it enters pathfinder res. A place called walleye bay can be accessed from leo's ranch which is near the miracle mile ranch. It is a 30 min. drive on some cow paths through about 3 gates. I pulled a 16 foot boat back there once and killed the eyes. I also have a friend that fishes from the shore back there and limits with no problem. If you come in from the south side of pathfinder you turn right at the split in the road when you see the sign that says leo's ranch and miracle mile. Leave the improved gravel at this point and head north on the cow path road. keep heading north and you will eventually see the cliffs of the resevoir.
Good luck

Dang, Doodle! Does he have to net them for you, too? He just gave up a sweet spot to you, as they say on that other board, now shut up and fish! m

Try live bait rigs cast from shore. Jig tipped with crawler. Jig tipped with minnow. Slip bobber rig. You know the usual stuff. Now shut up and fish.

Doodle, for more info on what to use, just read this board religiously. I'm in Utah, and works for the folks in the mid-west works out here too. The more you know, the more options you'll have on the water making your trip more productive. You can't learn it all in one post.
Happy reading, then happy fishing.

What part of Colo.? There ae some very good places for walleyes around the state. Wyoming is still favored by a lot of guys but that doesn't mean that there aren't good places. Just need to know what part of the state you are in.
