I'm headed to Port Clinton May 20-27 with a buddy and want to get on some good walleye action. Can any of you native Ohioans (or other seasoned Erie Anglers) provide me with some starting points about walleye locations at that time of the year and where I should start? Also, any other experiences you might have had relating to depths, colors, patterns, presentations and baits would be most helpful and genuinely appreciated.

Mark,
Later part of May can be very good with stable weather - of course that's always the key on Erie. A good number of the bigger fish will be East of Kellys by then heading towards Vermillion, Lorain, etc but some will be holding 5-6 miles east of Kelleys. Also there should be decent numbers of of fish roaming the flats north of the camp perry range cans (north of A,B,C) in the area bounded by West Sister, Middle Sister, Rattlesnake. Starting near West Reef is a favorite for me this time of year. Key will be finding the active fish and staying on them. In general, you should be able to troll faster (like 2.5)to cover water. Spoon bite should be going by then with dipseys, and jets off of boards. I know this is a big area and probably not the specifics you need but a lot can change in three weeks. Keep checking here. Info will be flowing. Channel 79 is a good one on the radio. email me if you wish closer to your trip. I live by Davis Besse and try to fish 3-4 days a week.
Good Luck,

Thanks Steve. I'll take a copy of your post with me and look to get hooked up with some other anglers on 79. I appreciate your help!

Mark,
Hope you have a good trip. Other thing that should be HOT that time is some nightfishing. Email me if you want some details on that.
