View Full Version : Great Customer Service
I have seen posts on here about companies that didn't quite perform up to par in the customer service department. I recently sent two ABU bait casters (both more than 4 years old) back to them for Service and they were both fixed, cleaned up, and back on my doorstep within a week. I also sent a Guest onboard charger back to them for service. Used the charger for 3 years, it is out of warranty, but they sent me a brand new one. I don't work for either company, but hats off to them both for standing behind their product, I will continue to use both brands for life. Anyone else have any similar experiences with other companies? thank you - erik

I second Abu, sent back an old 5000 (25 years old) that wound up needing a small part. They fixed it and shipped it back in 4 days with an explanation of the problem and said "no charge." Wow.

Thanks Erik, posts like this help me with future purchasing decisions. I have a Guest on-board charger and am very happy with it. I will remember ABU for future reel considerations.

I would sure put a plug in for the Scheels store in Sioux Falls. I stopped in a few times this winter/spring looking for their new "Scheels Only" wally divers. They weren't in yet and I live three hours away so I left a card with Connie who runs the dept to put back about three dozen cranks when they came in so I wouldn't miss them. Some of my friends were pretty dubious about whether I'd ever hear from them. Lo and Behold I got a personal phone call the day they arrived and I picked them up a few weeks later packaged, priced, and ready to go.
About the same time my "usual" more local store that I spend a lot of dollars at was pretty unhelpful with a warranty issue. I'm always amazed how many businesses will let a $75 or $100 issue affect thousands of dollars over the years - even when I wasn't asking them for a new rod - just to have the rep look at it when he stopped by.
The SF Scheels staff is always friendly and competent, and they are loaded with walleye goodies. Now if we can just get them to keep that inventory up throughout the whole year....

Tasco Scopes and Optics........I Sent in a pair of $200 7x50 binoculars that contained a fogged lens while prepaying the $6.50 freight. Three weeks later I received a brand new pair.

Gander Mountain in Appleton, Wis.is a favorite for life. I bought a Garmin GPS for myself and one each for my 2 boys for a Christmas gift. I lost a small part out of the Cigarette lighter adapter. Garmin told me "tough" Buy a new adapter. A Gander employee took a part out of a new one and GAVE it to me. He said for buying 3 of them, I deserved it. I was in customer service all my life and that's the way I treated my customers! Sometimes it costs so little to make a lifetime freind. My dad used to say "it doesn't cost anything to be a nice guy."

I second on Gander Mountain. I had a good experience with them on a pair of waders. I had a clip break on them and they just pulled a new set off the shelf and said have a nice day. No cost, and the ones I had were good and used.

St Croix Rods. I have broken two rods in the last year, basically my own stupidity, and St Croix has repaired at no cost or allowed me to upgrade to Avid at a very nominal cost. No questions asked about how the damage was done. No third degree.
Excellent service. I am a customer for life.
