I purchased a 74AP, Manual states, you can run your transducer cable through the channel is the shaft. Question? Has anybody mounted the transducer on there own? I printed out what minnkota had...There mounting shows on the outside, Using two Clips and Hot glue gun. Or,Do I need to take it to a service center for mounting?

Thanks

this has been brought up b4, it is by far the best to have a service tech that knows what is going on to do this. i think it was unanimous a few weeks ago that all of us had a technician do it due to the complexity. best of luck, you have a great unit.

hear is what i did. if you can splice your cable? cut it then slid cable inside shaft. take four screws out of head to remove top. you can see the hole to route it through. pull it up and screw top back on. splice your cable and your done.

It is best to keep your transducer cable free from splices. Splicing can create all kinds of unwanted problems. If you disassemble your genesis the main thing you need to look out for is the auto pilot function if you have one. Mark the compass head before you remove from the top of the unit. Make sure the head is returned to it's original position. If you are good at mechanical type procedures it is not a big deal to place the cable in the track. If you have two left thumbs you might want to consult a technician. Good luck and Good fishing.

I just brought mine into a service center last week for a tranducer install only to find out that there is a service release on my brand new Genisis 74. Parts include Mother- board and New foot pedal.By the way , if you try to install this cable without splicing you void the warranty if you screw up.

I'm taking my 2001 74AP to a service center this weekend. The way I see it "time is money" and I don't have the time to mess with it and for $60 to get the job done, it's worth the price. I don't like the aggravation nor do I want to screw up my $1,258 trolling motor. Enough said.
