I was told last night by a friend that the Mn. DNR was going to make rivers off limits to fishing for opener. This doesn't bother me any, but it would be nice to know the details so I can plan accordingly. Any help would be great.

Toby,
The only rivers that the Dnr. is closing are the Tamarac river, and Shotley brook. Both of these are major tributaries of upper Red. They are only closing them until May 8th. These are two very likely spawning grounds for the Red lake Walleyes. With so much invested in the Red lake lake recovery program, they felt this very much nessesary.
