Ok let's all take a step back and look closely at some of these points.
In previous posts i have read that 18" could be argued in court and proven that there can be a discrepency of up to 1/2". Now what? We all know the local enforcement agencies will be checking at all tourney sites (usually) and they have the right to uphold the law. So better be prepared for his ruler off by 1/2". C'Mon - quit dancing around symantics.
You bring in a fish over/under the slot - you pay the penalty. The PWT, RCL, NPAA, NBA, NAACP...oops, got carried away, cannot overrule the states decision. Period. No questions. End of Story. It ends here - 18" is 18".
Now, how do we go about getting what is perceived as a fair judge during this process? No matter what the final judge has to be the law enforcement, so instead of bucking them, why not work with them. Make them prove to others how/why they measured the fish in question, document it and DQ the violator, if in fact they were in the wrong. End of story. All done. You are SOL for that day pardner.
Let's go one further though. Why is it inconceivable to think that these large run tourneys cannot start some sort of alliance with their fisherpeople and create a cohesive strong unit. Does this mean they all have to agree, uhhmmm, do all the NASCAR drivers agree? But enact a set of rules in which it is universally known about measurement, safety, rules for protests, etc... You get the point.
Now, let us not all forget we are all individuals with our own voice. To say Chris could not voice his opinion here, or he was outcasted by his peers, whatever, the point is they all are doing exactly as the rest of us do. Casting our opinions out into the fire. Agree to Disagree, and carry on a civil conversation.
When you go to the bar, Church, grandma's house, wherever, does everyone sit around and talk about the same thing and agree to the fullest on it? If we cannot come in here and say the owner of this site should consider our thoughts, that tying a snell this way is better than your way, or that my lund is different than your warrior, what good is this going to do.
I am not a terribly religous man, been a funeral director for 5 years and always had this stick with me "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the strength to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference." Or something like that. Replace it with Allah, Buddah, whoever you worship (if anybody), the point is constructive critisism is just that - constructive. Delete the losers, let the others speak without chastising and casting stones. Some may think it is a fine line, but to me it is about as fine as 18". It is, or it is not.
