Motor Placement

I have a 99 Crestliner Sportfish with a 125 Mercury motor. I would like to hear from others who have this boat and motor, or something similar, about what hole their motor is mounted in. Mine is in the bottom hole. I am looking for a little more performance and it seems like maybe moving up would be a good idea. I also run a 21 pitch SS prop which puts me right at 5250 rpm's with a full tank of gas and two anglers and stuff. I am getting about 41.5 mph on my best day. Can I do better? Thanks.

I have a 18ft. tracker with a 125 merc. Have it mounted in the third hole and got 44mph. with full tank and one person flat water. About 5050rpm 21-pitch alum that came with the motor.
