Low in the water?

My recently purchased 1996 Lund Pro V 1660 has a Mercury 90 HP 2 stroke and is rated for 115. It has an 80 pound kicker as well. I would think I am not overloaded. However with a full tank of gas, only 1 battery in back and 1 in front, empty rear livewell but full front livewell, my splashwell drain holes are only 4-5 inches above the water level with 2 average size men in boat. When a chop comes up the waves flow in and out of the splashwell drain holes. Is that normal or am I floating too low in the water? I am hoping it may come up some as I get down to half a tank of gas. I am not taking on any water in the bilge area.

I also have a 1660 Pro V, but mine is a tiller with a 60 hp Mercury. I have an electric trolling motor on the back instead of the kicker outboard. I have about 10 inches of space between the water and the splash well holes. I would guess that with that extra weight with the kicker and bigger outboard, you are about right with the height of your transom. You should still have about 10 inches until the water is to the top of the transom. Don't let it bother you that the water comes in the splash well holes, it does on everyones boat, especially when back trolling.
