I would like to mount a Ram cradle for my globalmap GPS unit. Where and is it safe to drill through the top of console? I wanted to put it next to the X85 on the console to the left of the black wire access on top of the console.

The cradle came with stainless screws. Will those hold or do I need to get nuts, bolts and washers. If I need to go the nut and bolt route - What is the best way to access the underside of the console? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I just mounted a Lowrance GPS in the exact location you are referring to. Using sheet metal screws works very well, you should not have to go the bolt and nut route.

My R-A-M mounts are mounted on my Pro V console using s.s. bolts, s.s. fender washers and s.s. locknuts. I prefer to use this set-up whenever I have access. On my console I was able to simply remove the tackle storage assembly and gain access through that hole. Also by doing this you can make sure you're not going to drill into any wire bundles or steering hoses/cables... My $.02
