I broke the rope on my motorguide bowmount with a gator mount last night. Now the hard part, how is it routed through the mechanisim? I didnt pay any attention to it before I broke it.
Thanks! The crappies are smokin up here right now!!!! Paul Rohweller

I hope this helps, With the motor in the down position(in the water), towards the top there is a black plastic eyelet that slides back and forth on a stainless pivot pin. Rotate that eyelet so that it's pointing towards the rear of the boat. Insert the rope thru that eyelet, and directly below should be a opening in the steel frame with a round plastic grommet in it. Thread it thru that grommet and then the rope bends 90 degrees sraight back to a hole on your release mechanism, where it is attached with an overhand knot. Looks like a tight squeeze. Might want to try using a coat hanger to help thread it thru. I looked at my rope and it is getting frayed at the 90 degree bend. so you can guess what I'm going to be doing this afternoon. I dont know about your mount but mine has always been stiff and you really have to tug hard on the rope to activate the release. I think it's time for some WD-40 to try to remedy the tightness. Good Luck

Paul,
Just took a look at mine and it like you can't get there from here.
The rope runs through the eyelet on the first rod and then enters what seems to be an enclosed channel that houses the two locking pins. I couldn't determine with cursory examination just how to get through the the channel to replace the rope.
I broke a rope on an older model and it was breeze to change but this one has stumped at this point. Will look into further this a.m. and see if I can find out more.

My release was always a little stubborn, always had to give it a pretty sharp tug. This time it broke and almost sent me swimming. not good! lololol A guy would not want to swim back in the crud I was fishin last night. Paul
