View Full Version : Yam. F115 v. Ficht 115

Looking at buying a Yamaha F115 or a Ficht 115.
The dealer is pushing the Ficht because he says the holeshot is poor with the 4 strokes and that the extra lbs. make it even worse.
The boat is an 18 foot tin. I would love a 150, but don't have the extra $.
I appreciate any opinions.

The Yamaha comes with a 3 year warranty and an excellent reputation. The Ficht, on the other hand, has left a fair number of owners wishing they had bought brand X, Y or Z instead.
FYI
F115TLRZ - $9,430
130TLRZ - $9,200
VX150TLRZ - $10,790
Not a huge difference in price and if you really have your heart set on a 150, why not look at a Mercury. They run about a grand less then the Yamaha's.

LAST EDITED ON May-15-01 AT 08:18AM (CST)[p]I run an f115 on an 18' alumacraft. The hole shot is great. The motor is not weak on the low end. I get 40-41 gps for top end, so if thats not fast enough, you better stick to the 150. I couldn't be happier with my 115. Good Luck.
What is the price differnce?? How much more are they than the conventional 2-stokes?? Any speed differences??

Take a look at Suzuki's 115. I have one on my 620T and it's a wonderful motor. Didn't think the holeshot was as bad as I anticipated.

I found a non-current 150 V-MAX/carb motor in the crate for, if I remember right 7000.00 It was 700.00 then the cheapest Merc. XR 6 I could find.
Had a Fitch,lots of trouble,glad bassboat is gone now .Will be buying new boat soon,probably with Yamaha 115.Do not get Fitch.best 115 there is,when it runs.
