I need some advice. 1996 Merc. 40hp Elec. start on a console boat. Always been cold blooded starter in 3yrs. I've had it. I have to lift the fast idle handle and push the key choke even when she's warmed up. Had it in for tune up last week. Whole nine yards, including fuel pump overhaul. Runs w.o.t. and trolls great. But, won't start unless I do cold start procedure, even after sitting for only 10-15 min. Replaced fuel line and bulb yesterday because I've heard they can go bad. Bulb feels about as hard as old line.
I'm lost!!! Maybe something electrical?
I'm leaving for LOTW the 24th. and I'm losing sleep over this.
Thanks.

Try mixing some Seafoam with your gas. This really helped getting my cold blooded 150 to start and run when cold.

Thanks for the advice Dutchman. I do use Seafoam on a regular basis. I also only run Premium gas and change the filter every year. Pretty sure it's not bad fuel. But, you gave me something to think about....Maybe I should hook up to a portable tank and give it a shot.
Thanks, still worrying.
