View Full Version : Boat Liability Insurance??
Whats the best boat insurance out there guys. Have the boat physically covered but need liability on it yet. Reason I want it physically with this company is they cover it at whatever I decide to put on it. There's no its 20 years old and your only getting this much. I put 15,000.00 on it thats what I get if its stolen or wrecked. But they don't write liability on them over 75 horse. Mines an IO 165 hp so they'll cover it for loss but not liability. So my question is where I can get liability and tow insurance for Lake Erie too. Thanks to all! Craig

Try a liability extension from your homeowners policy.
Thanks for the replys. Craig
You should consider State Farm Insurance, you get both liability and physical damage coverage in one package for a very competitive price! Why would you insure your boat for more than its value?

We have liability on our Crestliner w/40 Merc, but between my motorcycles, firearms, and a 16 year old that is now driving we bought what is called an umbrella policy. Your ins. agent can explain in greater detail but essentially it is policy that covers anything and everything you(or your family) operate. If you kill someone(accidentily) with your boat, on the water or on the trailer and you're sued you will be covered. If you are hunting and you shoot someone(whether they deserve it or not) or the brother-in-law you lend the gun to shoots someone you're covered. Check it out!

The reason I have chosen who I have is that I can and will receive what I put the value at, rather than what some book tells me its worth. And it costs 40.00 for 10,000.00 of coverage. So setting it at 15,000.00 costs 60.00 a year. If the boat is wrecked or stolen I receive 15,000.00, not some depreciated schedule. The only thing they don't cover is liability on boats over 75 horse. Its through my farms home owners policy. I only need liability for the boat. Thanks Craig
