I was out fishing at Chamberlain a couple weeks ago, just before the PWT started, and I could not believe all the Non-Resident fisherman that were in town for this big event. What a boost to the economy for this wonderful town and area. I can not imagine how or why SD would want to mess with such a terrific boom to there State. Take Allans Hillside Motel for example the place is packed!!!! He sells bait, food, pop,and licence. Charleys Restaurant next door is packed from 6PM. TO 11PM. And how about the gas stations, other motels, restaurants and so on all because of mostly Non-Residents. What else needs to said?

Traditionally Chamberlain is booming at this time of the year every year. Lots of locals and lots of nonresidents. It's always a hot bite early and anglers flock there after along winter. Once the bite slows down, the crowds thin out and in late summer you can get a room almost anywhere. I'll agree, Gary runs a first class operation and he's a great guy and good guide. He's been there doing it for almost 30 years. Kind of a feast to famine with the walleye bite being the indicator. I think the economic gains are wonderful for all the local business's. I am concerned as to how long the river could take that degree of fishing pressure. Up north at Oahe they want you to take home 42 fish. There are slots for these fish so know the reg's well. The resort owners had a tough year last year hopefully both residents and nonresidents will boost their bottomline this year. I just fished Oahe and there is a good bite of smaller fish, and the folks there are going to be more than happy to see you pulling into their business's.....
