Does anyone have the skinny on G3 Boats? I like what I have seen and am inclined to buy a 19 footer with a 150 Yamaha. Any comments?

From what I heard, a designer from Alumacraft went to work at G3 and brought the basic 2XB hull and almost same desing to them. If you look at some of the boats, they look likke Alumacraft clones. He has since left G3 and went back to Alumacraft. That is what Alumacraft reps told me when I asked.

Apparently they are more popular in the south than in the north, if there even are any G3 dealers up here in the northland...

That's about all I know about it, and it was relayed to me. If you want to know more about the boats, maybe you could check out Alumacrafts in the '98 - '99 year range. There were also a couple G3 boat reviews in Bass & Walleye Boats mag a while back.

Good luck,

My only comment would be that 19 foot G-3 looks like an exact Knock-Off of an Alumacraft Trophy 185. (Without the 2XB hull)

They got a decent review in Bass and Walleye boat magazine a couple issues back. However, they also advertize with the mag....

Marty, I bought a G3 boat this spring.I didn't get one big as what your looking for.I bought a 160 tiller with a 25 4-stroke yamaha. In my price range, the g3 had the most features hands down.boat and trailer were 30 dollars less than a quote for a lund 1650 rebel. Was the only boat(and I looked at a lot) with a reverse chine hull, double plated bow,and many other features. When you get into a bigger line of boats than I got other companies have great hull features etc.,but g3 was the only boat to have those kind of features in their cheaper line.at least the boats I looked at.I have been on the water about 20 times this year and I love it.My dealer is great too.goes all out to make me happy.I may feel differently once I get a year under my belt but I love it so far.It is a yamaha company.I live in northeast ohio and there is only the one dealer around me.If you need some more info let me know, maybe I can help you or I can ask my dealer. goose925

Every boat gets a good review in Bass and Walleye Magazine.
They would not want to offend advertisers!
