I thought I saw a thread on this board about dull hooks on Rapala baits and a lot of bashing of the tackle companies. Did I dream that or was it on another board? It was pretty interesting. Or did the board cops "clean" it up? If I'm all wet, just tell me. Thanks.

You weren't dreamin'. Seems there's something fishy going on.
I've noticed quite a few threads mysteriously disappearing. Must be the weather.

Don't get me wrong I think this site is da bomb but, yes posts dissapear all the time. Not just the controversial ones either. My advice is if you think you might use some info in the future ya better save it yourself because the stuff you look back for will certainly be gone when you need it.

i THINK IT IS TIME TO NOT BUY ANY RAPALA'S THIS SEASON, MAYBE THEY WILL GET THE MESSAGE.
THEY SAY THAT NOT BUYING GAS LAST WEEKEND DROVE DOWN THE PRICE,WHY NOT BUY NO MORE RAPALA'S FOR THE YEAR?
did it really disappear?
04-19-2000, 07:42 PM
Did it go bye bye, or just to page 2? or 3????
Yes, some posts disappear when they get too heated. I honestly didn't keep good track of the
post in question so I don't have a clue as to why or where it went bye-bye. But there probably was
a good reason...
Actually, I'm more bothered by the fact that it's still cold and rainy here so I'm not getting much
fishing in. But the suns shining today so maybe there's hope for some fun after work... :-)
Winter's pretty much over, guys, so let's stop
the whining about the deleting and Shut Up And
Fish... :-)

No you werent dreaming. the thread or topic disappeared about 12:30 Tue night. There is always someone who thinks its his right and duty to determine everyone's free speech rights under the constitution.

I can understand that some posts are removed for vulgarity or obscenity, but if they're simply offending someone, even if that party may be sponsoring this site, I don't understand the logic behind removing the thread. I know this board is a ton of work to maintain and I'm thankful that its here. However, when an entire thread is removed, I would like to see an explanation or a bulletin that it was removed because it didn't fit the "scope" of the discussion here. Sorry to whine, Ness, but it's cold and rainy here too so interesting stuff is in short supply. ;-)
You mean there is always someone who has to ruin a good discussion with foul language. That is usually why a thread gets deleted.

Zach,
Do you happen to know why the thread about dull hooks on Rapala lures was deleted? I'd appreciate knowing. If it was deleted because some joker came in with profanity, it might be a good time to talk about passwords again. Thanks.
That would be my guess, but I'm not sure because I didn't do it, so that leaves one other person who has the authority.
Since we're on the topic, (and this usually comes up once per year or so) there are only 3 reasons a message will be deleted.
1. Profanity
2. Bashing of another person
3. Unsolicited advertisements/spam
The reason is simple, all three of these things have nothing to do with walleye fishing. Once any of these enter the mix the post loses its value. Also, many kids read this message board, and they are the future of this sport.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me any time at:

Hi Ness,
Heated discussions are fine, we all enjoy them, but profanity or personal attacks will severely shorten the life span of a heated discussion. We actually remove very few posts from this board. Nine times out of ten when someone thinks a post has been removed it is actually on pages 2-8 or in the archives.

The topic still hasn't been disucssed. Why aren't the main manufactures supplying good hooks, after all we are pay lots of$$$$ Plus if the need to charge another .10 I know everyone would pay the extra for the better hooks.

Everyone with your view would be willing to pay more. For those millions of potential customers out there that see a high price next to a low price of another make, many will go for the low price. Marketing speak: "Put a basic set of hooks on them, keep the price as low as our margin allows, and sell them...for that small percentage that desires other hooks let them buy them & go for it". Only when the really good hooks become basically the same price as basic hooks will the marketing folks step up and wave the flag that "We are changing hooks for you guys, because you asked for it & we care..."

Well said Kevin, to put it an other way. If you really want sharp hooks beat a path to the lure manufacture that puts on the sharpest hooks you can find. Little hint.... "REEF RUNNER". Be careful of those hooks !! You won't even feel them going in. And yes they do cost more.
I hear you, Trapper, I'm bored too. Maybe it's time for another Bass Pro order :-)

I love those Reef Runners and the good hooks they have.
