I have installed a Raytheon L750 on a new boat (fiberglass). The users manual indicates to mount the transducer so that it is 1/8 to 1/4 inch below the hull bottom. The hull is a v-bottom. I mounted the transducer so that the center of the transducer was 1/4 inch below the hull. The side of the transducer towards the center of the hull was at or slightly above the hull bottom in this location.
With this location I lose bottom reading once I hit around 25-30 MPH. Couldn't find a consistent pattern; sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.
My thinking is there are two possible problems:
1) Transducer too high. I will move the transducer down so that the highest side of the transucer (relative to the bottom of the boat) is 1/4 inch below the hull.
2) I need to angle the back of the transducer down so that the back is angled lower than the front more than it currenly is. Raytheon provides a wedge to do this. I will try 1) before trying this.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
