Lubricating air ride pedestals

What is the best lubricant to use on the shafts of the air ride pedestals?

Basically, you want an oil that is non-gumming.

3 choices as well as others.
1. Hoppes gun oil.
2. Sewing machine oil.
3. My favorite - for both availability and price - automatic transmission fluid. Automatic transmission fluid is all synthetic and will not gum up over very long periods of time. As a bonus, it is relatively inexpensive. This is the oil that I keep in my oil can for all general purpose oiling needs.
