Borrowing a 70's model Evinrude 6 hp Fisherman. Does anyone know how to tighten the steering up on this model. I can't take my had off the tiller and it gets tough when trolling by myself. Thanks.

There should be a bolt that you can tighten with an open end 3/8" wrench. The bolt on most of those mid 70's motors was located right above the mounting bracket hackels. It should be next to the lever you engage to unlock the motor for tilting. If not there look around the shaft housing under the cowling base. Either way, it is there and might be covered with globs of grease.
