Hi Joe:

I wanted to know what I might possibly be doing wrong with my 620. My speeds have a hard time breaking 50 (GPS) and I get NOWHERE near the top end you guys are talking about. Could you email me at the above address and give me some hints?

I'm running a '01 225Opti on my '01 620. Thanks!

Mark, I've found that trying lots of different props will lead you down the path to a well tweaked boat. I would start there, most dealers will let you experiment...Just my 2 cents...

What prop?
We have found the Merc Tempest to yield our best top end on that boat and hp.

21 Pitch Tempest... just like Merc Says is perfect I can't figure out if all my electronics are wrong (at 3 spots - gps, dash telemetry, or Pinpoint speed/temp at the transom) but I'm not anywhere close to the top speed you guys are getting.

Billy Ortiz was at my house last night on his way to ND and he suggested that perhaps it's one of those bad Merc heads causing the problem (no bash on Bill, he's sponsored by Merc). I also get real erratic throttle control while the stick is untouched and in the same position and poor power when loading the boat at the landing?

Can't figure it out. I've changed the plugs and still get the same response.

Billy told me to run the ##### out of it and see if it's the power head or not. Motor's still under warranty, but I also know they've pulled the production of these '01 motors for the time being until they get the problems fixed with blow-ups.

Any suggestions?

Hey Mark,
I've been super busy and away from the computer the last few days.
I don't suppose you're anywhere near Minnesota so I could take your boat for a spin?

Go and get the ECU reprogrammed. I was told that may be a possible problem with some Optimax motors. Merc should do it for free...
