WOW! Some nice sized fish being caught!!

There is one guy averaging 12.51# per fish and hiding in 64th place (only two fish) but monsters at that. Way to go Jack Dean of Pontiac MI.

Get up to speed on touchy issues like this one, and do some research. You'll find out that it is the Ohio Department of Natural Resources making that decission. You risk looking a little foolish or worse (looking like someone who only wants to complain) if you don't do your home work.

ODNR makes these decisions - Yesterday the decision was to clean the fish and they went to food kitchens in Sandusky for homeless, elderly, and childrens homes. Keep it in perspective. It was less than 500 fish out of MILLIONS of Lake Erie Walleye. Most of the fish are already spawned out and the fish biologists will tell you that the biggest ones that do still have eggs are not good breeders. Most of their eggs are infertile.

The decision will be to clean the fish each day and the excuse will be of course local charitys in need. The bottom line is the ODNR really is not concerned with the sportsmans feelings, only their money. So keep buying those license and don't worry about the fish cause our goverment will do it for us. Just like social security the fish will always be there. In the meantime can't we all just get along?

get a life guys!! :)

This is Lake Erie, not a small midwest lake/res. where the preasure of fishing and keeping fish may greatly impacts the quality of fishing. This Is Lake Erie!! where most people keep all but the smallist eyes, & sometimes the bigones.Me Included.
When I fish mosquito or la due I usualy release my catch but on Erie, they are food for me, my family, & my friends. I am not saying the fishery is not unlimited & I never keep my limit of 10 but I trust the ODNR and their policy is the law.
also, the people in shelters exc.. are benifiting with a great meal, what is the harm?
There are much bigger & more important battles than a few hundred fish legaly cuaght & not wasted.

Why are you worrying about 500 fish when in Canada just north of where these fish are being caught they are taking millions of eyes in gill nets. Get some information before you blame ODNR. They are not perfect, but they are smart enough to know that these fish are not going to hurt Erie'e multi-million population. If you want to protect the lake, protest the netters, not the rod and reel guys.....
