In Cabela's marine catalog they show E-Z Rider pedestals. I have Attwood pedestals now and would like to find something to take the jar out of the ride alittle bit as my wife has a touchy back. Is it worth it? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
Well worth it.
If you have different folks in the boat - it makes sense to have a full selection of all 4 springs.
In calm water - a heavier person can use a light spring -- and have excellent seating. Then in mid rough water - go to a heavier spring -- then if you are really banging 4 footers go to a heavier spring yet.
Simply use the lightest spring possible that doesn't quite bottom out for the weight of the occupant and the amount of bounce for the current conditions. By using the correct spring in this way -- you will have the maximum seat movement, and thus the softest ride.
Take care

p.s.
You have to consider it yourself if you want to use this style seat in the helm position.
If you check all of the currently delivered boats - you will find that all helm seats are capable of being locked in a straight ahead position. It is my understanding that there is a new regulation on the book to require this capability for all boat manufacturers. Double check to be sure.
