View Full Version : Mr. Walleye board clips wearing out

How often has everyone replaced the clips on Mr. walleye planer boards when using superlines? I have been cutting through the plastic coating that are on the clips, which in result cause the board to slip on the line. Most of the time I have not had to double loop the line to the clip. Am I doing something wrong?
I go through clips about every 3 months. I am using 10/4 fireline.
Thanks for any feedback.

Steve,
I'm using 10/4 fireline also and have run my Roach boards for 3 years without replacing the clips until just recently. What may help preserve the clips is to tighten down the screw and alter where you place the line within the clip. Good Luck!

I use fireline and I replace my clips about every two years. This time when I ordered them I tried a couple of the new flex clips made of plastic. Had them out a few times and they work as well as the metal and we caught some big fish. I wont know how well they hold up until the end of the year but as of right now I think I like them better. Check them out at churchtackle.com.

Just FYI, I have Roach boards also, and just got back from a fishing trip with my brother and used his Off Shore boards. I loved 'em. They seemed to plane better in the water and I thought they were easier than mine to remove while bring the fish or line in. I guess I don't use planer boards enough to replace mine, but thought I'd mention it to you.
