Looking for some perspective on selling my 90 Lund 1650. Its narrow compared to todays standards-(74" outside gunnels)i advertized here on W.C. for 40 days, the other walleye site too,Advertized primary newpapers in Minneapolis,Chicago,DesMoines, here in Cedar Rapids Iowa-i figured on hauling it halfway and showing to "numbers" of shoppers at a time from the non local areas--- only two people came to look, both thought too narrow for thier needs.
This is a great deep V boat, just that its 11 years old. Finally found some walleye fishermen congregated at Spring Valley IIL. last weekend(200 or so rigs at public ramp), so i have now advertized there and will tow it on over next weekend, but must say im kind of demoralized for the lack of intrest for such a good "slot"boat-there must be tons of fishermen looking for a good used first Walleye boat on a limited budget its just how to find them. (selling this one for 6k)
---I guess i was ignorant when i bought such a narrow boat in the first place,Im getting a newer, bigger boat next spring, and i understand the reluctance of fisherman with wide expectations. So my question is how do i find the interested buyers?

There were tons of Lund praisers recently on this site who claimed they never had to trade-in a Lund because they always sold, and at prices near what they had originally paid.
Perhaps those Lund folks can advise in this case. Any suggestions?

Price might be a roadblock. In April of 99 I bought a 91 Pro V 1800 Tournament Series with a 120 for 6500.00. Boat included a LMS 350,rod holders and a flasher. Either I got a good deal two years ago or else you're a little high. Good luck. PS It did also come with a Shorelandr trailer.

I understand your pain! I just went through this experience when selling my Alumacraft Dominator. I just kept dropping the price until I got interest. It wasn't pleasant but you must decide how important it is to move the boat now at a lower price or sit on the boat and wait for your price. I finally hit a price level that got a lot of interest for my rig. I've got two friends who are still sitting on great 16' walleye boats and they've been advertising since February! I think the economic slowdown, the long winter, and gas prices may be conspiring against you. Email me for specifics. Good luck

$6,000 is a tough price to sell a used boat at, especially one as old as yours.
For not much more, the "first time" buyer can get a new boat (admitedly not a Lund) but with new-warranty on everything. This is especially true when you recognize that many buyers look at "monthly payment" ("Honey, it's only $189.99 a month!") and long term financing.
I'd trade it, not sell it.

That boat goes for about 9k new. You are asking about 2k too much for that old of a boat IMHO. You should be able get around $4500 for that package.

In one thread you rip on those posting on their chosen truck brand
yet in this one you take a shot at Lund owners? Putz.

In the last month there have been many similar rigs in the Mpls. Star&Trib and the St. Paul Pioneer Press that the owners are asking 4.5 to 5K. You didn't say what size motor but I'm assuming a 40 hp. It may be worth what you are asking, but you have to be willing to wait for the right buyer at that price.

I am one of those who you are talking above. I have bought and sold several Lund boats. I do however sell them for their value. I have purchased Lunds at the right price so therefore I am able to sell them for the right price. If you pay too much, you will have trouble selling them for too much.

Further description(this is not a "For Sale"post)-- its asingle console 75HP & 68lb M.G. the "Beast" trolling motor--i have been watching the papers, this seems about right-However,thanks to Your replys,it does give me perspective. guess i will lower the price some-when i go over to Spring Valley this weekend, i will drop it to $5500-and your right, its how important it is to be done with it-its important, im leaveing end of month for Ak. this year, and i want a bigger boat next year, dont want this one waiting for me when i get back.-Maybey even a little less$-##*#%*#-but what the heck, live and learn, suns out&spring is here-thanks to this site, next time i will know what im doing when im buying a boat(more or less-LOL)
thanks again:)

I was assuming as in previous posts that this had a typical 40hp motor. With the 75hp, you should be able to get around that $5500 price range upwards to near $6k. I doubt more than that. Best of luck and hope you get the "bigger, faster, better" boat of your dreams!

Price is the number 1 factor, then condition. Although 6000 isn't unreasonable, I think the used market is down this spring. Last year my dealer couldn't keep a used boat on the lot, this year trade ins are running 500-1000 less because of a soft market.

As a former Realtor, I can tell you that EVERYTHING sells if priced correctly.

Have you thought of fixing the holes? Just kidding!
What you need to do is get some for sale signs on it and get it out there. Also keep advertising somewhere it will sell.
Good luck!

I think you have to remember that buying used usally means as is. No warranty on the engine or anything else for that matter. Most poeple are very cautious about spending that kind of money for an as is item. I had the same problem a year ago. Decided to trade and a Lund dealer gave $500.00 less than I paid for it three years previous. He was happy and I was happy. Good fishing, God bless.
I sell my lund boats every other year in april or may I call an auctioneer friend he puts my boat on a good auction and they have sold for good money every time.
You have a very good point. When I bought my first bought last year I looked around at what was available.
I could buy a decent 5-6 year old setup(14ft deeep and wide, 15-20HP and trailer) for $4000K or so. Then I started looking at new and bought a new 16ft side console with 25HP motor for 7K.
All of it was brand new with full warranties etc. I might have been able to get a better deal buying used but the piece of mind of knowing I was the only reckless idiot that had owned the boat was worth the extra cash.

One suggestion would be to get the price to a more realistic, lower number.
6K is high, unless the engine is much newer than the boat?

Great condition will bring top dollar. As old as your Lund is, you cannot expect to get what you paid for it, unless it is absolutely perfect. A realistic price will bring you a quick sale! I quickly sold a 1997 Lund Rebel because it was well maintained and realistically priced. Good Luck!
