river temp. in northern Minn

I just took my boat out this afternoon with my new LMS-350A on the Red Lake River in Northwest MN and it showed water temp. at 59 degrees. I've never really payed much attention to water temp. before and it seemed kind of warm to me, I was just wondering if it was in the ballpark. any thoughts?

That temperature could be about right. I was on the Ottertail river last Sunday and the temp varied from 55 to 57. Found some beautiful crappies up to 1 3/4 lbs.
