Tried to search on cabelas reels, but didn't get much consensus on whether they are any good. Looking at a black label II baitcaster w/flippin switch for bouncing. They make both left and right handers. Thought they would be nice for pulling Dubuques in the river and bottom bouncing with a rod in each hand. I have a castaic and love it, but they are pricey, and only make a right hander. The cabelas model has 5 ball bearings, and is 1/2 the price. Any input on whether these reels are any good would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was wondering the same thing a couple weeks ago. I was looking at the mega royal walleye combo. The reel had 5 or six ball bearings, you name it. In the end, because I was unsure of who manufactured the reel, I went with Abu Garcia. I simply wanted something that had a good reputation. I think they need to come out and say who makes their products. I found few people who knew anything. Either way, good Luck on your purchase.

Disclosure of mfg is typically a violation of OEM agreements.

Roscoe,
My Cabela's Alaskan tent rain fly leaked in one spot after two years of summer and winter camping. They replaced it no questions asked. I know it's not a reel, but my point is obvious; save the $$ on the less expensive reel and if your not satisfied with it, they'll take it back. They know its good business to make you happy.

P.S. Call and ask to talk to a product specialist. Once in a while they tell you who the manufacturer is.

Roscoe,
I have a cabellas depthmaster line counter reel and am really happy with it. I had some trouble with it but sent it back and it was replaced asap after 2 yrs of use. They really stand by the products. Hope this was of help.

I stuck one of their rods in a ceiling fan after I had it for a year. They replaced it and just giggled about it.

The only gripe I have is that their stuff is backordered a lot.

I have a Black Label II and have used it for jigging and bladebaiting for three years. I fish about 40-50 days a year and the reel held up great for two seasons. This year the flipping switch is acting up and doesn stay engaged. It still works and only takes reflipping the switch on occasion. I have only used this style of real for 3 years so I don't know if there is a better flippng switch available that would last longer, in another brand. Maybe someone else has a suggestion.
