Fishing the Minnesota opener this weekend about 50 miles north of the Cities. Now the big choice, do I bring 4 minnow buckets so I can try a scoop of everything from crappie minnows to small suckers in addition to the leeches? Is it too early for crawlers?

This is a good question Elmer. In my opinion you always need to have a little of everything in the boat. To answer your question about crawlers. I would say give'em a try and if the don't work one day try them the next. If you find active fish and they slow down one bait try a new one. Some times its all it takes to pull a couple more fish in the boat. Good luck this 2001 Opener and be safe. It looks like the weather should be on our side this year.
