Looking for some thoughts on GPS. Looking to use in boat and while Ice-fishing. Looking for a quality user friendly unit. Right now I'm clueless. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks Jerry G.

Once again, there is now technology spreading through the GPS business. Check out the WAAS feature in a couple of the Garmin dash-mount units. You may want to wait for this to trickle down to the handhelds. Garmin isn't the only one to offer this technology for next year. They just built the coastal/satellite towers.

If you can find someone to sell you a used Eagle Accunav Sport, that is about the most user friendly handheld around. My seven year old grand son uses mine when we go out.
Which ever one you get, check out the plotter screen. Is it big enough to read. Is it easy to understand?
If you fiosh walleyes at night, check the back light level.

I recently urchased the Garmin MAPS 76 with WAAS capability. I have used it on Winnebago, and in Alaska on a big game hunt. Very accurate (within 10 feet), and pretty intuitive to learn. Can be purchased with dash mounts for both your boat and car, and can be transferred between the two.
Good Luck!

I currently own a Garmin 12, and love it. It only takes a few seconds to get satellite lock, is very easy to use, and is pretty inexpensive at about $140. It works great on the lake for marking spots. Whatever unit you do get make sure it tracks 12 satelites otherwise you will have a hard time getting a signal.
