How often should you expect to replace the bulbs on your rear trailer lights?

I have a three year old EZ Loader trailer and have already had to replace three bulb units. They are sealed units made by Westbar and cost $9.50 each. I am very careful about disconnecting the lights well before launching and reconnecting after loading. I've heat wrapped the butt connections on the wires and made sure the ground was good. These units appear to use the same bulbs as a car so it seems they should last as long. Is this normal or is there something else which could be causing this?

EZ LOADER ON THE NEW TRAILERS IS USEING NEW SEALED UNITS. THESE CAN BE TAKEN APART AND PUT BACK TOGETHER. JUST CHANGE THE BULBS.

My '95 boat trailer had one leak and burn out the first summer. Since then, we get the trailer wet at least once a week for 5 1/2 months each year. I do not unplug the lights, and I have not had a bulb burn out since that one the first season. Maybe I'm just lucky, but that has been my experience.
