Just got word that the Canada trip just got cancelled. It was to be my seven year old sons first trip. He is devastated!! I am looking to find a rather inexpensive, but good fishing lake in Northern Wisconsin or Minnesota.
The place where we were going was pretty much lack luster as far as immenities go but excellent walleye and northern fishing. Electric provided by generator only a couple of hours a day, no phones, no tvs, no radio in fact no people. I know it will be hard to duplicate in Wisconsin or Minnesota, but I gotta try. The original plans were to leave Northern Illinois on Friday May 25 and not return until June 2. It will be just him and I. I have the boat, truck, just dont know where to go!!
If anyone has any ideas or knows a particular spot, I would be grateful.

Maybe you can still go!!!!!! Try either WWW.whitefishbaycamp.com, or try www.thelastresortsn.com. I know these places are not in in Mn. But they are not that far over the border. Or for the real adventure try Voyaguers National Park in Northern Minnesota. For more info on this, feel free to e-mail me and I can probably help you out.

let me tell you that i think south dakota is the hottest walleye fishing state in the world right now. it doestn't matter where you go here right now, the walleye population is incredible. if you are interested i can give you specific places. reply to this if you want more info.

Witch bay Camp on LOTW Ont. 1 1/2 hours over the border, Great fishing, remote scenery. Great choice.

Yes I'm interested. How far from Northeast Illinois?
it will take you about 14 hours but is mostly interstate. lake oahe would be the best bet. they have a 14 walleye per day limit this year. and a license it CHEAP!!! they have too many walleye in the dam and that is the reason for the changed limit. there are many guides in the area that would take you out for a day for relatively cheap.
hope this helps
feel free to ask any more questions.

If you can get in at this late date, Maple Hill Resort near St. Cloud / Annandale is an excellent choice. Good bass, walleye and Northern fishing, plus beach & pool for the kids, activities, canoes & kayaks, etc. and not far from civilization. When I took my 12 yr. old to Canada, it was a bit too much wilderness for his tastes once we got up there. Try www.mapleresort.com. we'll be there last week of June. m

You might want to try the Cisco chain it is located on the Mich.Wisc.border nice chain alot of different type lakes not to crowded you can ussually find a secluded spot by yourself.Resorts are reasonably priced. But south Dakota sure sounds like a hot bite.I think fishing hot spots has a map of oahu.
