X-15MT upgrade problems.

Bought a new x-15 last week and tried to upgrade to version 1.9 software. This is the basic 200 kHZ single transducer version with the GPS package. Here's what has gone on.

1) Downloaded v1.9 onto computer.
2) Loaded MapCreate and attached cables.
3) Ran v1.9 utility and went through update process ( ran twice as per web directions to create MMC card)
4) Placed MMC card in unit, turned on--listed to upgrade to be run as system software is later date than MMC card software.
5) Checked MMC card software and it IS the current version, at least all the individual files have todays date stamp, although the MAIN folder has version 3.2 on it.
6) Tried deleting the files in the MMC browser mode. Cannot get main folder to delete (the one with ver 3.2 on it)
7) Im suree this was a NO-NO. In desperation I formated the MMC card which did nothing except remove the main folders numerical name--still kept all properties including ver 3.2 the same.
8) No tried the entire oprocess again and cannot get the complete make MMC card to completion. Error message "unable to open X15mt111.qts for write" Appartently the numerical folder number was important for the destination of the write.


Anyone have any insight into this situation? (anyone have the numerical folder name (number) of the MMC card?

Geeze, haven't even mounted it on the boat and have had more grief with this than any other Lowrance product!!

Found the problem. the ver 1.9 upgrade;s self-extraction utility was not working correctly. When I created and designated a new target file for the upgrade, I was able to install directly from there. Geeze, even Lowrance's directions on updating don't seem to work consistantly! I hope I'm not sorry I bought this thing:)

Stan, if you have been following any of these posts, on the x-15 you already know that Im very sorry that I bought one. Lowrance has been no help what so ever. I feel like that I've bought a thousand toy that doesnt work, and the company could care less.I guess that they dont care about there costmers. WILL NEVER BUY LOWRANCE AGAIN........They sprang this crap on the genral public long before the" on the water testing" was done.

I do know I have a 30 day return policy on this thing and I'm watching that date VERY closely!

Return it.. I wish I did! Return it and buy it this fall when everything is worked out and all the upgrade come from the factory. Why have part of your covered warrantee take place while its in the shop?????
