Does anyone run a 189 Triton with a 150 hp on it. I'm thinking of a 150 EFI. The saleman said it would push it fine , I'm worried about hole shot not really top end. I don't want a 5 second hole shot(LOL) For you guys that run this setup, what do you think? I assume a 150 hp would run in the high 40's. Thanks

My 2000 189 comes out of the hole just fine. I'm running a 21 pitch tempest. Top speed with two people, livewells full and full of gas, will run 52-54 on gps. Just be sure to put an edge hydrfoil on the motor. It doesn't affect the speed of the boat and really get the boat on plane fast.

Steve,
Do yourself a favor and go with the 175EFI. You may not realize how heavy that boat really is. You won't realize the full potential of this great boat with the 150. Mine runs 64mph (speedometer) with a 175EFI. If you're trying to stretch your budget, skimp on something else besides the motor. Better yet, I'll make you a great deal on my 2000 189DC. I want to order a new 205 before spring. E-mail if you want details.
