Make sure you know where the border is if you don't have a minnesota and canadian license. The canadian conservation and immigration folks do patrol(together) the area and check boats. You also need a remote area border crossing permit.

Also, the walleye size and number limits are different on either side of the border. Strictly catch and release on the canadian side unless you stay in canada. Kettle falls is Minnesota.

Kettle falls is a neat place.

If you need more,email me!

Good luck

A couple of things I learned when staying at Kettle falls.

If you fish below the dam, in current; one of the most productive baits is the shad dart jig - in red and white. Typically 1/4 - 3/8 oz jig tipped with a minnow or leech.

The shad dart works great in current, because of its darting action. For that area, red and white has always been a very productive color.

Another very good technique, if you are fishing the canadian channel of the river, is to troll upstream, very slowly with your electric. Use a shadrap or something similar that dives to about 8-9 feet. Every time that I would troll by the rapids, I would always pick up a nice fish.

Another thing to do in the river is to anchor by the rapids with a slip bobber, and use a worm, minnow, or leech under a slip bobber, just at the transition on the rapids.

When the eyes aren't biting, work the rocks and reefs for smallies. Lots of action and lots of fights from the smallies.

Take care
