i have a 1983, 85 horse johnson motor. i have had no problems until just now. i launched the boat last oct. and started it. when i tried to go forward the throttle control arm was locked up. when i took it apart the cables seemed to work good. but when i put the control back together it worked once, then locked up again?? can anyone help. (i am dry docked!)

Hi Billy,

I had the same problem. I greased the lever parts inside of the motor compartment. Fixed the problem. If it's really dry spray a shot of WD-40 and work it back and forth a few times then grease it. The WD-40 will clean it out so the grease can get in there.
