View Full Version : Slander on WC?

By now, many of us have read MIFISH's shameless and apparently unsubstantiated accusations of Gary Gray's tournament activities on the Boats page. It bothers me personally because Gary has helped me out with my boat on a couple of occasions when he had no real reason to do so. While I've never met him personally, I'm confident he's all that he's portrayed to be.

WC's regulars have been subjected to MIFISH's moronic rants for several years, both under his real name, and now under this handle. MIFISH is not fooling anyone - those who need to know his identity.

My question is this - it's one thing to bash one another under the pretense of poor judgement. On the other hand, real damages could occur to a prominent touring pro if a reader, not familiar with MIFISH's antics, assumed he had an IQ greater than the possession limit in Michigan and gave any credence whatsoever to his accusations. While I'm not an attorney, I think that MIFISH has crossed the line and his actions might now be perceived as slanderous.

Tom:

I agree. I just wish that people would have the common decency and tact to keep their personal attacks of others off this board.

I come here for tips, topics and productive conversations. I usually get that.

MIFISH has crossed the line. If you've got a beef with a specific individual, take it outside with them someplace else.

Just because someone posts here doesn't mean everyone reads it. Many, myself included, just pass on by. We're all smart enough to know which posts are credible. There's too much good here to waste my time on the bad.

Good fishing.

I read the posts too. I also read that Gary Gray asked to leave the thread alone. Gary see's the advantage to being able to represent himself in this court of public opinion. One man's poor spirited, possibly libelous actions are a detrement to us all, if we handle it that way. I was able to take a page from Mr Grays Anglers playbook while being routinely beaten by him in several tournaments. I am also now, glad to take another page by reading his thoughtful, well thought out reply's to these apparently baseless accuzations. No, I do not see anyone, other than Himself, as God. However, my hat is off to you once again Gary.

What information, what facts. Not your opinion, not speculation, not what you thought and could not prove. F A C T S. C mon man, the ball is again in your court.

How come you wont answer Gary on the original thread anymore?

You say you have facts I don't, but yet you decline to disclose them? Instead, you air baseless accusations without supporting facts. If you have them - fine, it's your decision. That said, you chose this forum, read by many, to deliberately accuse a prominent pro of cheating without a foundation. That's slander - period.

I have read your posts MIFISH in the past with the idea that.............................there are all sorts in the world and some people have extreme ideas .... actually found some of them a little humourous.
You are way off base here and I think you owe every one here and especially Gary an apology and a retraction.
Show the stuff you are made of and fess up.

MIFISH,

I have to agree with the others here. In the past, you have offered some good information; however, the post regarding Gary is way off base. Why you need to attack him is beyond me. You have not given any information that has backed your statements. Dead fish could mean a 101 things. Caught early, pounding in the livewell on long runs, poor water quality in livewell, temperature and maybe even not taking great care of the fish. I have been guilty of dead fish before and it is not intended but does not mean that I plucked them out of a net or caught them at another place or time.

Gary Gray has spoken at our walleye club and was more than gracious, intelligent and as far as I am concerned, the epitome of a great pro. Unless you can offer something of value or actual facts, go find another place to vent on someone that clearly is a better fisherman than you.

This website is meant to be a positive place to exchange fishing information, and 99 percent of the time it is. Unfortunately, there seems to be some who would detract from that purpose.

When it comes to character assasination, anonymous posts are worthless posts. Someone who won't sign their name to critical posts apparently doesn't believe very strongly in what he is saying, so why should I?

As an outdoor writer, I have had the great fortune of interviewing Gary Gray for stories for Ted and I. He has been gracious and ever willing to share information to help others learn more about the sport. After he and Bill began having great success on the MWC, they were quick to put out a video explaining in detail how they were trolling for suspended fish. Others began doing it their way and had equal success. Thanks to Gary and all the other pros who do so many positive things to help our sport grow and prosper.

This guy has caused trouble on here before. In fact has
been kicked off under another name. Don't pay any attension
to him. That is what he wants.
