Looking for a new boat. I'm not sure if I'm going to go with fiberglass, but do like the new Skeeters.I have two quuestions if I may.1) Do Skeeters make a good dureable boat(fit, finish, structureally sound? 2) For those that own one(1950,2025),how do you like them? What improvements would you like to see Skeeter make to make them better? Thanks Ahhh that would be 3 questions I guess!

Steve,
My Skeeter Walleye System 135 is now 12+ years old and aside from some owner-inflicted dings it still looks brand new. Not one crack, no glazing and I still take it out in 5-6 footers with nary a worry, aside from the capabilities of the captain :)
As to questions 2 and 3, you’ll have to wait for someone who owns either of these boats to post a reply.
Fiberglass vs. aluminum is another subject that will illicit a vast range of responses. After owning a glass boat I doubt I would go back to tin but that’s not to say there aren’t some outstanding tin boat on the market. I just like the ride of a glass boat and will gladly spend a couple of hours a year maintaining the gel coat.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

I just purchased my first fiberglass boat and it was a skeeter, its not is big as the ones you mentioned but i love it as far as taking on the big water i wont buy another aluminum boat. It has acouple of flaws on the model i purchased but otherwise im very happy with it.

I have absolutely enjoyed the ZX 2050 that I ran on the circuit this year! From the Detroit River to the wide expanse of Lake Erie's eastern basin this hull performed flawlessly.
If you want you can e-mail me, or call me for more detailed info.

I lucky enough to ride and fish with Frogman (Keith Segar) in his 2050 Skeeter this season on Erie's eastern basin. I was very impressed with the boat! It handles rough water surprisingly well and is really laid out well. Now..if they could just make it so it catches more fish! By coincidence..my local dealer just picked up the Skeeter/Yamaha line and I'm looking at them as well! Good Luck with your choice & Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

I can't speak for the Skeeter 1950 or the 2050, but I do own a Skeeter 1775 and have owned a S135. I can say that the Skeeters quality and ride are second to none. I have had no problems what so ever. I look forward to some day owning the 1950 myself, that will be my next boat. Have Fun

I'll have you know there is nothing wrong with the boat catching fish, it's the people riding in the boat that need help catching fish!!!!!LOL
How are you feeling Chris? Good to hear from you. Let me know if you or Gilligan find my downrigger out there on the Eastern Basin!

I can not comment on the models you refer to,I own a 1775 .
The ride is great ,dry, nice looking boat.A problem I have
is the live wells leaking into the dry storage compartments.
The dealer tried 4 times to correct the problem, the problem
still exsists. Now I'm dealing with the factory 20 months into
purchasing the boat.Save yourself the head ache buy a Ranger

Hi Keith..I'm back to normal (for me anyway). I've hit our local river here for the last 8 days. The big one so far was 23"..that's big for this fishery. Can't wait to get back to Erie..I'll keep an eye out for your downrigger when I do. Good Fishing, Chris

Funny you should mention. I had a 1993 135T with a 75 on it. Hull was rock solid and ride was great. Didn't like Skeeter's fit and finish. My livewell always leaked into the "dry" storage. My problem was the seal between the fiberglass underdeck and the livewell top lip. No matter what I did, the dealer did, it always leaked. My new Ranger 620 fit and finish is pretty good, but I think the Skeeter ran better in the heavy waves.

If you email me, I'll put you in touch with some others who run those boats and they might be able to give you some additional input.

As soon as I find the assorted things I've left behind (trolling plate Off Shore boards etc.) I'll have a look for it. The whole bunch may be over Niagara Falls by now!
Chris back to normal??? Don't beleive a word of it, remember...this is the guy that eats liverwerst and onion sandwiches!
